Antonio Smith: Tom Brady a crybaby about getting hit

Tom Brady Jerseys and the Patriots have another quote to put on the bulletin board as the team prepares to face the Denver Broncos on Sunday.

This subtle jab comes thanks to Broncos defensive lineman Antonio Smith Jerseys.

When asked if Brady is a crybaby, Smith replied: “That would be an accurate statement. I’ve never seen any quarterback look to the referee right after he gets sacked more than Brady,” the defensive lineman said, per the Colorado Springs Gazette. “Every time he gets sacked he looks at the ref like, ‘You see him sack me? Was that supposed to happen? He did it a little hard. Please throw a 15-yard penalty on him. Get him fined.'”

Smith did offer up some praise of the QB after saying that Brady cries too much.

“He’s not going to rattle just because you hit him hard. I’ve tried over the years,” Smith said. “That’s what D-linemen think: ‘The harder you hit the quarterback, the better it will make it on the secondary.’

“With Brady, he’s a great competitor. You know it’s coming. He’s going to cry about getting hit, but he’s going to take the hit and keep going.”

Smith’s comments come after Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall Jerseys criticized Rob Gronkowski Jerseys, saying that the All-Pro tight end “pushes off” to get open.

While the Broncos have started off the week chomping at the bit, things were relatively quiet out of New England until Gronkowski provided his take on social media:

Heard their whole team is good at giving low blows Rob Gronkowski Jerseys (@RobGronkowski) January 19, 2016

With the way Brady performs in the playoffs and fresh off carving up the Chiefs’ defense, it’s not too wise to give him a little extra added motivation — especially since he’s beaten Peyton Manning Jerseys 11 out of 16 matchups.

Browns RB Isaiah Crowell apologizes for social media reaction to police killings

Cleveland Browns Jerseys Jerseys running back Isaiah Crowell Jerseys apologized and said his social media reaction to last week’s killing of two black men by police was “very wrong.”

Crowell said he made an “extremely poor decision” when he posted a drawing that graphically showed a hooded individual putting what looks like a machete into the throat of a police officer.

The Browns Jerseys organization did not mince words in reaction to Crowell’s post.

“We have spoken to Isaiah regarding his extremely disturbing and unacceptable social media decision. It was completely inappropriate and we have made him aware of our high level of disappointment,” the team said in a written statement. “Isaiah has apologized but also knows that just an apology is insufficient and that he must take steps to make a positive difference after a very negative and impactful post.”

“It was an extremely poor decision and I apologize for that mistake and for offending people,” Crowell said in a statement released by the team. “My values and beliefs do not match that image.”

The post went up after the police killings of Alton Sterling in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Philando Castile in Falcon Heights, Minnesota, and before the killing of five Dallas police officers Thursday night.

Stephen Loomis, president of the Cleveland Police Patrolmen’s Association, also was critical of Crowell, telling TMZ Sports that the player’s “store-bought apology” was inadequate.

Cleveland police chief Calvin Williams said that Crowell apologized to him in a call Tuesday, and that Crowell said he was caught up in the emotion of last week.

Crowell wrote that he was “outraged and upset” by the killing of Sterling and Castile, and “outraged and saddened” by the killing of the five Dallas police officers. He called last week “an emotional and difficult week,” but said his post was wrong.

“We have to be better as a society,” Crowell said. “It’s not about color, it’s about what’s right and wrong. I was very wrong in posting that image. Every single life matters, every death as a result of violence should be treated with equal outrage and penalty.”

Crowell removed the image shortly after posting it, but the image still was shared on social media.

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy, when asked if the league had any response, said: “The image was inappropriate and insensitive. He realized this, took down the post and has since apologized.”

Spurs’ Gregg Popovich bids emotional farewell to ‘irreplaceable’ Tim Duncan

SAN ANTONIO — Wearing a black shirt emblazoned with a picture of Tim Duncan with a caption underneath reading “Impossible Is Potential,” San Antonio Spurs Jerseys coach Gregg Popovich waxed poetic for 15 minutes Tuesday about the retirement of arguably the greatest power forward to ever play the game, and plans to make a pitch to Duncan to keep him working with the organization in some capacity in the future.

Will Duncan’s lessons be applied to LeBron?

Healthy superstars are the best currency, and no one understood that better than the Spurs with Tim Duncan. Will the league finally adjust to keep LeBron James and others on their feet longer?

“It’s not a show of humility in any sense or form. People who grew up with me know me,” Popovich explained. “I would not be standing here if it wasn’t for Tim Duncan. I’d be in the Budweiser League someplace in America, fat and still trying to play basketball or coach basketball. But he’s why I’m standing. He’s made livings for hundreds of us, staff and coaches, over the years and never said a word, just came to work every day. Came early, stayed late, was there for every single person, from the top of the roster to the bottom of the roster, because that’s who he was, in all those respects.”

Sources told ESPN’s Marc Stein that the Spurs officially waived Duncan on Monday for salary-cap reasons. While the move was a mere formality, the club needed to do it to “waive and stretch” Duncan’s $6.4 million salary for the 2016-17 season so that it’s spread out over three seasons instead of one, which lessens the cap hit the team will take.

Duncan exercised his player option for the upcoming season before the June 29 deadline, which means he’ll receive his full salary for the upcoming season despite retiring. Consider it a parting gift for Duncan, who gave so much for the NBA, the city of San Antonio and the Spurs organization.

“He’s irreplaceable. It can’t happen,” Popovich said. “We’re all unique. I guess each one of us is unique. But he’s been so important to so many people, it’s just mind boggling. To think that he’s going to be gone makes it really difficult to imagine walking into practice, going to a game, getting on the bus, taking him a piece of carrot cake — whatever it might be.

“You don’t see Timmy beating his chest as if he was the first human being to dunk the basketball, as a lot of people do these days. He’s not pointing to the sky. He’s not glamming to the cameras. He just plays, and we’ve seen it for so long it’s become almost mundane. But it’s so special that it has to be remembered.”

Popovich said Duncan is “too smart” to try his hand at coaching in retirement, but he plans to reach out to the former Spur to keep him involved in some capacity.

“I don’t think we’re going to see Timmy going up and down the sidelines much,” Popovich said. “But I have a notion he will at least listen to being involved, somehow or other, maybe even on a part-time basis. I’m certainly going to hit with everything I have to keep him around here as long as I possibly can because he means that much to everyone in the organization.”

Most Royals officials, and manager Ned Yost, said often recently that for Cain to even be mentioned in the same sentence for MVP as Trout and Donaldson demonstrates Cain’s evolution as a player.

“Lorenzo has played a major role in the success of our team,” general manager Dayton Moore said by phone. “He can impact a game with his ability to make plays on defense, on the bases and in the batter’s box. He is a special all-around talent.”

Cain experienced a breakthrough year in 2014 when he slashed .301/.339/.412 with five homers and 53 RBIs. But Cain crushed those numbers in ’15.

Cain (.838 OPS, 16 homers, 72 RBIs) was the Royals’ catalyst offensively. He led the team in steals (28), average (.307) and runs scored (101), and was second in OPS, doubles (tied with 34) and triples (six).

“I don’t think we even know yet what his ceiling is,” Yost said toward the end of the postseason.

Although Cain wasn’t a finalist for a Rawlings Gold Glove Award — a vote that baffled many, including Yost — Cain’s defense also propelled the Royals. Cain finished second among center fielders in Fangraphs’ defensive runs saved (18) to Rays’ Gold Glove winner Kevin Kiermaier (42). Cain finishes third in MVP race Lorenzo Cain Jerseys finishes third for 2015 AL MVP AwardA five-tool star for a dominant Royals team, Lorenzo Cain Jerseys finishes in third place for BBWAA’s 2015 American League MVP Award

Cain’s season also was historically memorable. Only three players in franchise history had a season with at least a .300 average, 15 homers, 25 steals and 100 runs scored. Before Cain accomplished the feat this year, only Carlos Beltran (2001 and ’03) and Johnny Damon (2000) achieved that rare line.

Cain, Trout (2012), Ian Kinsler Jerseys (2008), Rickey Henderson (1990) and Paul Molitor (1987) are the only players to achieve those marks in a season in 140 games or fewer.

Sedin scored at 5:41 of the second period and on the power play at 2:21 of overtime to tie the mark established by Markus Naslund, who played for Vancouver from 1996-2008.

Naslund was Canucks captain when Daniel and twin brother Henrik Sedin made their NHL debuts on Oct. 5, 2000.

“We’ve told Markus a bunch of times how important he was to us, not only knowing you could talk to him about anything, but just watching him too,” Daniel said.

Daniel, a left wing, has 19 goals in 43 games this season; he jerseys for cheap had 20 in 82 games last season.

“When we played with [Radim Vrbata] last year, he is a great shooter, he is a goal-scorer, you are going to feed him the puck,” Daniel said. “For us to be successful, you have to realize what kind of role you have on the line. Playing with Jannik [Hansen] this year, I have become more of a shooter, and that is why our line has been successful; you realize what kind of role you have.”

Daniel Sedin scored his 346 goals in 1,103 games, all with the Canucks, who made him the No. 2 pick in the 1999 NHL Draft.

Naslund scored his in 884 games for Vancouver, which acquired him in a trade with the Pittsburgh Penguins on March 20, 1996.

Henrik Sedin leads the Canucks with 949 points; Daniel is second with 921. Daniel holds the record for power-play goals (120) and game-winning goals (76).

Naslund had 10 hat tricks; Daniel has six.

Now, the hard work begins for Jon Robinson

When the Rams trotted out the cadre of players they got from the Robert Griffin III trade for the opening coin toss against the Redskins back in 2014, it was meant to be a sign of what patience can provide, and how a savvy sell-high valuation of picks can yield to future wins.

But, was it the right time to rub Washington’s nose in what they had given up? St. Louis, since the 2012 trade, has gone 27-36-1. Janoris Jenkins Jerseys now plays for the Giants. Pead plays for the Dolphins and Stacy plays for the Jets. Robinson is still a developing prospect with an explosive raw skillset. Watkins is a free agent.

As we enter a cheap youth jerseys very different NFL landscape than we came into Thursday morning, let this be a lesson to Titans general manager Jon Robinson: The honeymoon will not last long if you don’t make the picks count. Just four short years later, you could wind up being the one getting fleeced again for a “face of the franchise” that never came.

cheap miami dolphins jerseys

Now, the hard work begins.

In the moment, Robinson can linger in the limelight. The move was perfect, especially considering the fact that St. Louis might have been able to prod the Browns for the No. 2 pick and still end up with the same player for slightly less. That, however, would have involved sorting through more smoke than any team cared to do.

They took a pick they did not need and spun it into six chances to select an impact player in the top 76 picks – odds that any general manager has to like. And, as NFL Media’s Mike Mayock mentioned on NFL HQ Thursday morning, they have plenty of ammo to trade back into the top 10 if there was a player they had their eye on all along.

“I think it was a chance for us to really bolster the depth of our football team,” Robinson said this morning. “Having six shots at the top 76 players in this draft, not to mention five next year with the extra one and extra three. It was a chance for us to bolster the depth of this football team and add a lot of good quality players that will be at the top of the draft.”

All at once, the move has to be thrilling and terrifying for a first-time general manager. Robinson has the chance to reverse Tennessee’s fortunes over the course of two years. In 2014 and 2015 alone – a very short evaluation period for draft picks – there have been nine Pro Bowl players selected.

The Titans need help across their defensive line, at safety and cornerback. They need depth across the offensive line and targets for Marcus Mariota to throw to. Some general managers consider this a draft where first-round caliber defensive linemen will be available in the third. Some see wide receivers dotted throughout the draft that could be Day One starters.

This is what Robinson sees, too. In the spirit of his former mentor, Bill Belichick, he is placing a value on the higher odds as opposed to the bigger, one-time payoff. Now, it’s up to Robinson to make it work.
